Researching Companies and Conducting Informational Interviews Will Allow You to:

  • Learn About a Company and a Career Path
  • Figure Out Which Companies to Target at the Fall Career Fair
  • Build Relationships with Professionals in Industry of Interest

Follow the steps below to get started with the informational interview process!

Step 1: Create a list of 20 connections you know from home, through church, parents, family members, and parents of high school friends.  Add companies of interest and search for Kelley and IU Alumni contacts  

Step 2: Develop an introductory message to set up a meeting (in person, phone or web)

Step 3:  Research the company and industry and prepare a list of questions

Step 4:  Conduct an informational interview and ask for other relevant contacts to build your network

Step 5: Send a follow-up thank you and stay connected
