As you wrap up an interview – Don’t forget to ask 2 VERY important questions:
- May I have your contact information?
*You may ask the recruiter for their name (get the correct spelling) and their email address. Remember, if there are 2 recruiters, ask each of them so you can send a personalized thank you note to both recruiters. The vast majority of the time you’ll be able to get the contact information from the recruiter with little/no effort if you ASK
*You can now email the recruiter(s) a thank you message and have a contact to follow-up with in the future
- What are the next steps and timelines in the interview process?
*The best thing to do is at the end of the interview, when they ask you if you have any questions, ask them if they know the next steps will be in the interview process and when the hiring decision will be made (is there a another round? do you go to the company office?)
Statistics show the 75% of the people who do the hiring take thank you notes/emails into consideration when choosing a future employee. Any little edge helps. Good luck!
