Now that you have walked around our beautiful campus and worn your Kelley swag a few times – we want to remind you that you are now part of the amazing Kelley family! Indeed, as you make your way through the semester, remember that many of us were in your shoes before and we are here to support you!
UCS Peer Coaches’ Tips
Be confident in your cultural experience and understand the value that your unique background provides to each and every organization
- If you need help explaining your background clearly, consider meeting with a Career Coach at the UCS
- Don’t be afraid to dive into your business and/or personal interests such as favorite shows, music, fashion, why you chose IU, etc . . . we want to get to know you for you!
Check out Kelley Student Organizations such as business fraternities, workshops, and more.
- Recruitment for many organizations begins early in the semester; check out social media pages and advertisements around Kelley!
- Be comfortable speaking to members in these organizations from all backgrounds – they are just as interested in meeting you as you are to meet them!
Reach out to your professors and TAs at the beginning of the semester to establish and build a relationship with them!
- Utilize office hours to continue developing your relationships!
All fellow domestic students going through the process also feel nervous and anxious
- Members of the organizations are trying to get to know you just as much as you are trying to get to know the organization itself.

- Depending on your academic standing, use this action plan to plan your career development and job search.
- If you are Junior or Senior log-in to Handshake, complete your profile, upload your most recent resume, make your profile public, and start registering for information sessions, networking nights, and career fairs that are coming up!
