Student Newsletter – VIRTUAL EMPLOYER NETWORKING NIGHT (ENN) – THURSDAY, SEPT. 29

September 27, 2022

Come and talk to more companies interested in hiring Kelleys for internships and full-time positions. Over 30 employers are participating in the virtual ENN this Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS ABOUT THIS WEEK’S VIRTUAL ENN**

  1. Using Handshake, set your profile visibility to “Community” or “Employers”.
  2. Register for the event.
  3. Sign up for 1:1 or group sessions with employers of interest.
  4. Follow these steps to share your resume when meeting with an employer 1:1 during the virtual ENN:
    1. Upload a PDF version of your resume to your google drive (or any other cloud-based storage you use).
    2. Copy the share link to a word document or some other location you can easily access during your 1:1.
    3. If you choose to rename the link to a shortened version, use Bitly or another similar application. (Renaming the link in the word document will not copy correctly to the chat feature on Handshake).
    4. Have the link copied to your clipboard and ready to share when attending your 1:1 sessions.

**If you do not follow steps #1-3 at a minimum, you will NOT be able to meet with and talk to employers.

KELLEY KIOSK, COFFEE CHATS, OFFICE HOURS & MORE

In addition to career fairs and ENNs organized by the UCS Employer Relations team, be sure not to overlook individual company events hosted by employers. (See the “Events” tab in Handshake). Several companies host office hours and coffee chats, usually casual in nature, which you can stop by during the day as your schedule allows. Other employers do information sessions which often includes a brief presentation by the company and some time for networking and conversations with representatives. All are fantastic opportunities to engage with employers!

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Casual clothing has become the wardrobe of choice for many but what is recommended attire during the recruiting season when you are talking to employers and trying to land that internship or full-time job?

Business casual is the recommended dress for the upcoming ENN’s and company information sessions.

Business professional is recommended for career fairs and interviews.
