Now that you have several networking events under your belt, it’s time to continue the conversations with the recruiters and professionals you met. This will require sending a simple email – a brief introduction, 2-3 sentences on why you are interested to connect, and then asking for 10 minutes of their time to talk. Give them options—either cell phone or zoom, for example.
When networking, your first question to the employer or professional should NOT be: do you hire international students? First try to impress the recruiter by mentioning transferable skills you have gained at Kelley, during your internships, and which you bring from back home. Then, follow with the “smart” questions based on your background research on the company and your interests, but be specific. Your goal should be to develop a holistic conversation that you can continue via email. The answer to the above question will come during the conversations, and after you prove yourself as a strong candidate.
Also, there are currently over 2.9K jobs available for international students, only on Handshake. Remember that your education visa should be covering your CPT and OPT.
